...investigative journalist Seymour Hersh of the New

were made of young boys being sodomized at Abu Ghraib. "The worst is the
soundtrack of the boys shrieking," the reporter told the group's
convention. Hersh reports there was "a massive amount of criminal
wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there, and
higher." See the video of Hersh's ACLU speech7 - the information

Attorney General
John Ashcroft has repeatedly
rebuffed requests by Congress and public interest groups for basic
information about how the Patriot Act is being used. Now – in a cynical
public relations ploy – Ashcroft has released a thirty-page
piece of propaganda wrapped in the guise of public disclosure. The
document does not contain information needed for members of Congress to
make an informed decision about whether to extend provisions which expire
in 2005. Instead, it avoids key issues, distorts basic law and presents a
self-serving selection of Patriot Act "successes." Sign
the petition calling for the removal of John Ashcroft.
Rather than just giving us some shallow alternative to

celebrating God, our men and women in uniform, and the nation that loves
them... Again, Joseph Goebbels would be proud. Read

wasn't just telling Senator Leahy to "Go F*** Yourself." His
real audience was us, the citizens of America.
"If
the president's speeches to the nation about his decision to go to war had
received a significant fraction of the journalistic attention that Moore's
film has, it's a good bet 5,600 American soldiers would sill be enjoying
their release from the military—rather than being called back to duty to
carry out an increasingly chaotic and counterproductive occupation."
